The Arts
From music appreciation to art history, this subject will please
your child and heighten their awareness and sensitivity to some
of the greatest works ever created by man. This program is comprehensive
and is broken into logical categories to help the child understand
the progressive nature of the arts and artists through time. Here
is a brief description of the types of materials that are presented
in this subject area.

Art History
The art history curriculum explores the vibrant history of art
chronologically, the periods and styles of art historically, and
the individual artists, their life and work. The scope of the art
curriculum is diverse and includes period artifacts, painting, sculpture,
jewelry, weaving, and architecture.
Levels
A and B include one art lesson per week focused on a more general
approach to art rather than a chronological approach. It offers
the student exposure to individual artists and their work and lets
them explore different styles, periods, and types of art.
The Level C curriculum is the most comprehensive art program.
Through this curriculum, the student gains a broad perspective of
what constitutes art. The student will learn to differentiate between
different periods and styles of art, to identify individual artists,
their work and their particular style, and to understand the history
and character of a style. The student also gains valuable insight
into the timeline of art and the artists through the ages because
the curriculum flows chronologically.

Each week, two lessons of art history are presented. One lesson
presents art history in a chronological format from ancient cave
art to contemporary art. The second lesson offers the student a
focused study of an individual artist. The Level C curriculum often
employs books to complement the week's art lesson. For example,
during the week that Renoir is studied, the student also reads a
book called "What is Impressionism?"

Music
Time2Learn
Academy's music curriculum is a clear, concise, highly dynamic,
and extensively illustrated overview of a daunting subject, the
history of the world's music. Revolutionary in its instructional
format, the music curriculum allows every student of any age to
enjoy music, learn about the history of music, study the different
periods and styles of music, and learn about composer's lives.
Time2Learn's music curriculum is revolutionary for its exceptional
approach to teaching young (or older) students music, and its efforts
to include both male and female composers in its overview of world
music history.
Levels B and C curriculum provide an accessible introduction
to music history, concentrating on individual composers and the
historical periods to which they belong. Level A does not
present any music books or composer books.
Students can explore music history, composer's lives and their
works, the evolution of musical styles, all in a compact chronological
context. The earliest known available music dating from 1100 up
through contemporary music is explored. Gregorian chants, troubadour
music, Western music, Eastern music, African music, Native American
music, folk songs, show tunes, opera, jazz, and contemporary music,
are all imbedded in highly informative and convenient weekly lessons.
The
music is excellent, relying on orchestral recordings, and provides
the student with an exemplary listening environment. In limited
instances, MIDI sound files are used because orchestral sound tracks
are not available.
The weekly lessons are chronologically appropriate and provide
the student with a mental timeline of the development of music.
Each week, a new lesson adds a new layer to the music history studied
thus far.
In both Level B and C, a music book and a composer book
are included. The music book provides the student with 5-12 sound
clips of the composer's most important works. The music book also
provides pertinent illustrations to view while listening to the
sound clips. A weekly adjoining composer book is rich in details
about the composer's life, and provides actual historical graphics
of the composer, his family, and career highlights.
The
multi-layer and multidimensional approach to music history is easy
to follow, highly informative, visually stimulating, and aurally
instructional.
We at Time2Learn Academy believe that the music curriculum is an
incredible gift to every student of every age. The scholarship and
detail highlighting this curriculum is unsurpassed by any curriculum
available for children. The opportunity to study the history of
music through dynamic sensory (both auditory and visual) stimulation
is revolutionary. The students are enthralled with the images, the
sounds, and the information.
Logically organized, beautifully produced with the finest sound
availability, and historically accurate in including both men and
women in its overview, the music curriculum is an outstanding and
incomparable introduction to the history of the world's music.
