More
about How It Works
The Beginning Reading Series features word repetition, limited
vocabulary, and simple sentences. Each level has longer sentences
and increased vocabulary with information that has extra fun and
learning techniques built into the lessons.
Levels Three and Four have more complex sentence structure and
more sight words to memorize. Level five has a richer vocabulary
and more challenging sentence structure. Level Six is a "review"
level and is full of electronic, interactive click and point games
for the student to play that enhance the skills, information and
knowledge of the first five levels. The student should be able to
read at a second to third grade level upon mastery of the skills
and concepts and successful completion of the program.
Parents and
teachers should be involved with the student throughout each level.
To do so, you will need to do the following:
- Set up a
notebook for each lesson. Discover e-Reading has a "Preparation"
page that enables you to print all exercises, worksheets and success
charts in advance of each lesson. If you prefer, you may also
print them as you go.
- Sit with
the child throughout each lesson and direct them as they go (since
in most cases they will not be able to read the instructions themselves).
- All Parents
and Teachers need to learn the "sounds" of the alphabet,
in order to help the child practice. To do so, you must also complete
the reading readiness lessons and practice the sounds. You can
do this in conjunction with the child. Remember, this is a blend
of reading methods, and you will not know how to properly sound
out the letters unless you have learned the sounds in Level 1
- Reading Readiness.
If the student
can use a mouse, they should be encouraged to work on the interactive
practice sheets independently. However, if the student cannot use
a mouse, you should also work with them on the interactive portion.
Because the information is presented in a clear and easy to understand
format - and because it is fun - students enjoy reading and want
to repeat the lessons over and over until they are mastered. Repetition
is important and the student should be encouraged to view the lessons
numerous times and master the materials before moving on to the
next level.
With Discover
e-Reading parents and teachers will see students develop a positive
attitude toward reading. Soon they are reading by themselves and
asking for more books. Discover e-Reading combines lively illustrated
books and interactive, engaging figures to capture the student's
interest while developing their reading skills and general knowledge.
The program is fun, easy to use, fully prepared and delivered -
and it works.
